CTOnews.com October 11, BMW today released official pictures of the 2024 BMW X2 sports compact SUV. BMW officials say the new car will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 28 and will go on sale in the United States in March next year. The new BMW X2 is built on the same platform as X1 and has a new dynamic styling.

The front face of the new X2 uses sharp corners and a short hood design to create a strong sense of movement. The side of the body shows a typical "SUV coupe" style, with rear suspended windows and sloping rear posts adding to the sense of motion. The rear part of the car uses a full shape and split taillights, and the rear part is even equipped with a small duck wing to make it more dynamic. The wind resistance coefficient of the new X2 is only 0.25, which is excellent for a SUV with a height of 1.6m. The M35i model is also equipped with different grille designs and four-outlet exhaust pipes, highlighting its high-performance identity. The length, width and height of the new car are 4554mm / 1844mm / 1590mm and the wheelbase is 2692mm.

The interior of the new X2 is very similar to that of the X1, with a curved duplex screen consisting of a 10.25-inch dashboard and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen, a central console button layout and more inclined to the driver's side. The new car is equipped with BMW's latest iDrive 9 system and a camera facing the car, which can be used to take pictures or record videos.

Panoramic skylights are available in the car, the trunk is 25 cubic feet, and the seat is made of Alcantara. The standard seat uses an artificial leather without animal ingredients called "Veganza".

In the European market, the new X2 offers a variety of power options, such as the pure electric version, the four-cylinder diesel version, the three-cylinder entry gasoline version and the powerful four-cylinder gasoline version. In the US market, the new X2 only offers two 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines. The X2 xDrive 28i carries a 2.0L engine with output power of 241hp and torque of 295lb-ft, while the X2M35i xDrive has an engine of the same displacement with output power of 312hp and torque of 295lb-ft but can release power at lower speeds. Both engines are equipped with a standard four-wheel drive system and a seven-speed double-clutch automatic transmission. The performance of the new X2 is also quite good, with acceleration times of 6.2 seconds and 5.2 seconds for 0-60 mph and 5.2 seconds, respectively, and the top speed is limited to 149 or 155 mph (240 or 249 km / h). It depends on whether or not you choose summer tires. If summer tires are not selected, the top speed will be limited to 130 mph (209 km / h).

The new X2 also uses a stronger body, a wider wheel base and upgraded chassis components to improve its handling performance. The entry-level X2 xDrive 28i model can also be equipped with an M sports kit, which provides larger braking systems, different steering systems and adaptive shock absorbers, which is standard on the M35i xDrive.

The new X2 also comes with many Internet features and driving assistance systems, and even in-car video games from the AirConsole platform. In addition to the regular driving mode, you can also choose Relax (relaxation), Expressive (performance) and Digital Art (Digital Art) modes.

The price of the new X2 has not yet been announced and is expected to be several thousand dollars more expensive than the similarly powered X1, which starts at about $40,000.

According to BMW Chinese officials, the Chinese mainland market will not be available for BMW's iX2 and X2 models, while the BMW X2 model with chassis code (F39) has been discontinued after September production months.
