CTOnews.com, October 11 (Xinhua)-- after months of testing, Valve officially launched Anti-Terrorism Elite 2 (Counter-Strike 2) on the Steam platform last week. However, the updated game only supports Windows and Linux, not the macOS version. Now Valve has confirmed that it has no plans to release counter-Terrorism Elite 2 on macOS.

CTOnews.com noted that in the frequently asked questions supported by Steam, the company said, "as technology advances, we have made a difficult decision to stop supporting old hardware, including DirectX 9 and 32-bit operating systems. Similarly, we will no longer support macOS. These people add up to less than 1% of the active" counter-terrorism elite: global offensive "(Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) players."

The announcement came after a 26GB update was released for "CS:GO" that made it impossible for the game to run on macOS systems. Although Valve offers Mac users a refund for Prime Status upgrades, it also marks the end of official support and development of one of the most enduring game series on Apple devices.

Although CS:GO was released in 2012, it is still very popular, with tens of millions of players every month. Valve's abandonment of macOS may disappoint many players, even if they make up less than 1% of their total user base.
