On September 12, the French National Frequency Authority (ANFR) issued an announcement saying that the specific absorption rate (SAR) of iPhone 12 exceeded the set limit.

We solemnly declare to all iPhone 12 users in France and other countries around the world that iPhone 12 is and is always safe to use.

All mobile phones must meet accepted energy transmission standards for health and safety, and all iPhone models meet these standards. These international regulations and standards are designed to ensure that the energy transmission power of the equipment in close contact with the human body does not exceed a certain limit.

IPhone 12 will no longer increase the allowed transmission power when it detects that the phone is in an off-body state, such as when it is placed on the desktop. Therefore, in areas where cellular network signal coverage is weak, this change in antenna transmission power may lead to a slight decline in cellular network performance in some use scenarios where the phone is away from the body. Most users are not expected to feel any impact.
