CTOnews.com Google launched energy-saving routes in Google Maps to India and Indonesia this year, after launching in the United States, Canada, Europe and Egypt. In both new countries, Google is also offering energy-efficient routes for two-wheelers to help more people travel more energy-efficient.

CTOnews.com learned from Google officials that Google Energy Routes uses AI to suggest routes with fewer hills, less traffic, constant speed, and the same or similar estimated arrival time. Since its launch in October 2021, it is estimated to have helped reduce emissions by more than 2.4 million tons of CO2 equivalent, equivalent to taking about 500,000 fuel-fueled cars off the road in one year.

It is understood that energy-saving routes not only allow users to reach their destinations as soon as possible, but also can be optimized to reduce fuel consumption, thus saving fuel costs. In addition to showing the fastest routes, Google Maps will also show the most fuel-efficient routes. Users can see the relative fuel savings and estimated arrival time differences between the two routes and choose the one that works best.

It is worth mentioning that in the United States, when users search for terms such as "best electric car," they can quickly compare prices, batteries, etc. Google has also added a new fuel cost calculator to help users understand charging costs and refueling costs, which is now available in 21 countries/regions around the world.
