The last time bilibili set a clear target for user growth was at the performance meeting in early 2021, when Chen Rui told analysts that bilibili wanted to increase the number of monthly active users (MAU) to 400m by 2023.

A person close to bilibili said that bilibili's management will bid on other content platforms when judging the upper limit of its own user size, believing that compared to long video platforms such as iqiyi, Youku and Tencent, the more comprehensive bilibili should have a much higher number of users; the domestic users of short video platforms Douyin and Kuaishou are close to the ceiling, and bilibili is far from reaching this state.

According to CTOnews.com, in the first half of this year, bilibili's daily active users increased 17% to more than 95 million compared with the same period last year, while the number of monthly active users reached 319 million, and the ratio of daily active users to monthly active users rose to 29.8% from 27.2% in the same period last year. In addition, the average daily use time of users on bilibili reached 95 minutes in the first half of this year, increasing the total user time of the platform by 21% compared with the same period last year.

In the first half of this year, bilibili's total daily average video playback increased by 34 per cent to 4.1 billion compared with the same period last year. The average daily playback of vertical short videos increased by 78% compared with the same period last year, and the average daily playback of videos born and grown up by professional users increased by 22%.

In the first half of this year, bilibili's average number of active content creators and monthly video contributions increased by 30 per cent and 61 per cent respectively compared with the same period last year, and more than 2.1 million creators earned income from bilibili's various channels, an increase of 41 per cent over the same period last year.

By the end of June 2023, bilibili's full membership had increased by 26 per cent year-on-year to 214 million, with the 12-month retention rate stable at about 80 per cent. The number of large members is about 20.5 million, of which more than 80% are annual big members or automatic renewal member users.
