CTOnews.com, October 10 (Xinhua)-- according to the Korea Herald, LG Display and LG Chem said they had successfully jointly produced p-type dopant, a key material for the production of organic light-emitting diode displays, whose supply had been completely dependent on imports.

In the production process of p-type dopant, LG Display is responsible for material design and performance verification, while LG Chem is responsible for synthesis and production, they work together to create substitutes that match the efficiency and performance of previously imported similar materials.

It is reported that LG Display has been strengthening the domestic production ecosystem to produce more advanced OLED displays, with the proportion of locally purchased materials rising to 64 per cent from 58 per cent the previous year. "since the launch of the world's first 55-inch OLED TV panel in 2013, we have been committed to using our accumulated expertise to develop our own core materials," said Yoon Soo-young, chief technology officer and vice president of LG Display.
