CTOnews.com, October 10 (Xinhua)-- Japanese carmaker Isuzu will launch a new electric pickup truck. Nan Xinjie, president of Isuzu, confirmed the news at the unveiling ceremony held in Thailand.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new D-Max truck in Bangkok, Nan Xinjie said: "Isuzu is actively working to achieve carbon neutrality. Looking to the future, Isuzu plans to produce BEV (battery electric vehicle) pickups in Thailand."

Thailand is the largest pickup market for Isuzu, while its popular D-Max is sold to more than 100 countries and regions such as Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Central America and South America.

Last year, Isuzu sold about 340000 pickups, of which about 180000 (45 per cent) were in Thailand. CTOnews.com found that Isuzu will face a number of competitors in Thailand, including Geely's radar RD6 electric pickup truck and Toyota's electric version of Hilux pickup truck.
