CTOnews.com, Oct. 10, BMW Group sold a total of 93931 pure electric vehicles and MINI models in the third quarter, an increase of 79.6% over the same period last year, and the delivery of BMW-branded pure electric vehicles doubled over the same period last year (+ 100.3%).

The company added that total group sales rose 5.8 per cent in the quarter and 5.1 per cent in the first nine months of this year. Meanwhile, BMW's cumulative sales climbed to 1836563 vehicles from January to September this year, up 5.1 per cent from a year earlier.

"our pure electric vehicle products are particularly benefiting from high global demand, which clearly exceeds the overall performance of the entire electric vehicle market, as shown by our electric vehicle sales in the first nine months," said Pieter Nota, a member of the BMW management committee responsible for customers, brands and sales. "overall, we are expected to achieve our growth target in 2023."

In the first nine months of this year, BMW delivered about 602800 BMW and MINI-branded cars in the Chinese market. Among them, BMW pure electric model sales increased by 232% year-on-year, to about 69600.

CTOnews.com inquiry found that BMW Group Q3 delivered a total of 621699 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce models to customers, an increase of 5.8 per cent compared with the same period last year, continuing to consolidate its competitive position in key core markets.

BMW expects its full-year delivery volume to grow steadily, including models from higher-priced segments and pure electric vehicles, which BMW expects to account for 15 per cent of total vehicle sales by 2023.
