CTOnews.com October 10, RCS is an open messaging standard created by Google that is designed to replace SMS and provide some iMessage-like features. However, Apple does not seem keen to adopt this open standard.

This week, Samsung released a new ad on YouTube, joining Google's ongoing "Get The Message" advertising campaign, calling on Apple to adopt RCS, claiming that "green bubbles and blue bubbles want to be together."

The 30-second commercial attempts to borrow the story of Romeo and Juliet, in which the iPhone user is Juliet and the Android user is Romeo. The ad means that Juliet's parents (Apple in this strange world) won't let her communicate with Romeo through RCS, they can only communicate through green bubbles. "Don't let Apple make you lose love," Samsung said in the video description.

This is a strange and confusing advertisement. If there is no context and no title, it may not be understood at all. And the ad is just a screenshot of a messaging app on a Samsung device, so it's conceivable that the budget for this ad is very low.

Google's long-running "Get The Message" advertising campaign doesn't seem to work, and Apple shows no sign of supporting RCS, but continues to use basic SMS and iMessage.

CTOnews.com noticed that when a user asked a question about RCS last year, he said he couldn't send some videos to his mother because she was using an Android phone, and Apple CEO Tim Cook told him, "buy your mother an iPhone."
