CTOnews.com, Oct. 9, AMD's original AM4 (X370 / B350 / A320) motherboard was released in February 2017, six years and eight months ago, but it still has access to the latest firmware updates, fulfilling Su Zifeng's promise of "providing 5-year updates."

A large number of AM4 motherboard users on Reddit have found that their motherboards are still receiving updates even after six years on the market, and major motherboard manufacturers have released firmware updates in the past 3-4 months, including the latest AGESA firmware updates and some security enhancements.

At the same time, the Intel 300 series platform, also released in 2017, has not been updated since 2021.

Although the early AM4 motherboard of AMD lacks PCIe Gen4 support, users can still choose to upgrade the CPU 6 years ago to the latest 5000X3D series CPU, which can significantly improve game performance.

By contrast, Intel 300 series motherboards no longer offer any optimization and security patches. Another point is that most Intel motherboards can only support two-generation CPU, so 300 series motherboard users can only choose the ninth-generation Win7 processor even if they upgrade the CPU.

Of course, Intel has clearly abandoned the LGA1151-v2 platform and is now focused on LGA1200 and LGA1700, which will be updated for the last time this month and then eliminated by LGA1851 next year.
