CTOnews.com October 9, according to BBC reports, the British data regulator accused Snapchat's My AI feature of posing potential privacy risks to users, especially children. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has warned that the UK's My AI feature could be shut down following a "preliminary investigation."

Snapchat said it was "carefully reviewing" the interim findings. CTOnews.com notes that Snapchat has 21 million users in the UK, many of whom are children. ICO expressed particular concern about potential privacy risks for users aged 13-17.

The data regulator stressed that its findings were not final and did not conclude that the company violated any data protection laws. At this stage, the notification is a signal to Snap (Snapchat's parent company) to ensure that My AI complies with data protection rules, including the Children's Design Code.

The ICO said that if the final execution notice is adopted, Snap may not be able to provide My AI functionality to UK users until the company conducts a "full risk assessment."
