CTOnews.com, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) Volkswagen's Up series has been phased out 12 years after its launch, making the Polo the smallest model in the company's product line.

Volkswagen has just produced its last Volkswagen Up at its plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, according to Autocar. The compact city car can only be bought from dealers in the UK.

It is reported that Volkswagen Up went public in 2011 as the successor to Volkswagen Fox. It is one of the cheapest cars on sale, with a list price of 8256 pounds (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 73726 yuan).

When it was first launched, the Volkswagen Up used a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that could bring 59 horsepower or 74 horsepower, while the later 2016 introduced a turbocharged version that could bring 89 horsepower.

In addition, Volkswagen launched an electric version of the e-Up in 2014 with an 18.7kWh battery, while the 2019 model has a larger 32.2kWh battery, increasing its mileage to 161mph (259.1 km).

In fact, the Volkswagen Up is part of the Volkswagen Group's new small family car (NSF) series, while the Seat Mii is still on sale until 2020 and the Skoda Citigo until 2021.
