CTOnews.com news on October 9, recently, the Ministry of Transport issued the "Highway Engineering facilities support Autopilot Technical Guide" (JTG / T   2430-2023, referred to as the "Guide"). Based on the development trend of digitization and intelligence of highway engineering facilities, and in order to better support the needs of vehicles for self-driving on highways, the Guide puts forward the overall framework and main technical indicators for highway engineering facilities to support autopilot, which will be implemented on December 1 this year.

According to reports, in order to better support self-driving on the highway, in view of the current situation of autopilot testing and pilot projects in China, the Ministry of Transport has formulated a "Guide" to unify the autopilot cloud control platform, traffic perception facilities, traffic control and guidance facilities, communication facilities, positioning facilities, roadside computing facilities, power supply and distribution facilities and network security facilities as well as technical indicators in highway engineering facilities. This paper puts forward the ability and scope of highway engineering facilities to provide auxiliary information, which can be used to guide the construction and development of highway engineering facilities in autopilot test.

Considering the traffic and environmental characteristics of our country, the Guide adopts the technical framework of "end-edge-cloud", and establishes the technical system of highway engineering facilities to support autopilot. Through the information processing and interaction of "edge", edge cloud and central cloud are formed, which provide data support for road section level, provincial (regional) level and ministry (national) level management platform respectively.

The Guide points out that highway engineering facilities provide a certain degree of information assistance for vehicle autopilot and do not change the status of vehicle control subject. The function, performance and layout requirements of supporting autopilot are put forward for traffic flow detection facilities, traffic incident detection facilities, infrastructure condition monitoring facilities and traffic meteorological environment monitoring facilities. Aiming at the identification and location perception needs of traffic participants such as motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles, pedestrians and so on, the technical requirements of detection facilities for traffic participants are put forward.

Technical requirements for traffic control and guidance facilities

The function, performance and layout requirements of supporting autopilot are put forward for traffic sign marking, traffic signal control facilities, traffic information release facilities and traffic warning facilities. In order to improve the identification of traffic rules and highway status of traffic sign marking by autopilot, the technical requirements of digital traffic sign marking are put forward.

Technical requirements for communication facilities

From the point of view of meeting the self-driving safety and non-safety application scenarios, this paper puts forward the technical requirements for the function, performance and layout of the directly connected communication facilities.

Technical requirements for positioning facilities

Technical requirements are put forward for high-precision navigation satellite positioning facilities and roadside auxiliary positioning facilities. For high-precision navigation satellite positioning facilities, public location services are used when public location services can meet application needs; when there are no public location services or services can not meet application needs, high-precision navigation satellite positioning facilities can be installed in accordance with functional and programme requirements. Roadside auxiliary positioning facilities can be realized based on wireless communication technology or setting roadside feature markers.

Technical requirements for roadside computing facilities

The Guide mainly puts forward the basic function, performance and layout requirements for the facilities located along the highway with the functions of information gathering and forwarding, rapid data processing and fusion calculation.

Technical requirements for power supply and distribution facilities

The Guide requires that when highway engineering facilities support autopilot, they should be equipped with first-class power load and emergency power supply, and the power quality should meet the basic requirements.

Technical requirements for network security facilities

The Guide mainly considers the technical requirements of network security from two aspects: autopilot cloud control platform and roadside facilities.

The network security level of the autopilot cloud control platform should not be lower than the third level security requirements in the current "Information Security Technology Network Security level Protection basic requirements" (GB / T 22239).

Roadside facilities shall not be lower than the second-level security requirements in the current "basic requirements for Information Security Technology Network Security level Protection" (GB / T 22239), and meet the technical requirements of roadside facilities safety physical environment, security communication network, security area boundary and security computing environment in this guide.
