IDC also said that GPU servers still dominate the accelerator server market this year, with a market share of 88%, or $3 billion (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 21.93 billion yuan). At the same time, non-GPU acceleration servers such as NPU, ASIC and FPGA accounted for 8% of the market share at a year-on-year growth rate of 17%, reaching US $200 million (currently about RMB 1.462 billion).

From the perspective of manufacturer sales volume, Inspur, Xinhua III and Ningchang ranked in the top three in the first half of 2023, accounting for more than 70% of the market share; from the perspective of server shipments, Inspur, Kunqian and Ningchang ranked in the top three, accounting for nearly 60% of the market share.

From an industry perspective, the Internet remains the largest purchasing industry, accounting for more than half of the overall accelerator server market, while the financial, telecommunications and government industries have more than doubled in growth.

IDC believes that AI is moving from completing specific tasks such as image recognition and speech recognition to quasi-human intelligence, enabling autonomous learning, judgment and creation. Based on the training of massive data and continuous optimization of the model, AI large models have more accurate execution ability and stronger scene portability, providing better solutions for the wide application of artificial intelligence in comprehensive complexity scenarios such as meta-universe, urban governance, medical health, scientific research, etc.

Chinese companies in particular recognize the value of generative AI in accelerating decision-making, improving efficiency, and optimizing user and employee experiences, and will continue to increase investment in the next three years.

IDC predicts that the market size of China's acceleration servers will reach 16.4 billion US dollars by 2027 (currently about 119.884 billion yuan). The non-GPU server market size will exceed 12%.

From a technical point of view, GPU cards account for 90% of the market share; from a brand point of view, Chinese local AI chip brands ship more than 50,000 pieces, accounting for about 10% of the market share.
