CTOnews.com, October 9, according to Tom's Hardware and other foreign media reports, Russia has set an ambitious goal: to build as many as 10 supercomputers by 2030, and each supercomputer can hold 10, 000 to 15000 Nvidia H100 GPU, which will provide the country with performance similar to that used to train large language models such as ChatGPT.

Under the leadership of a "trusted infrastructure team", Russia is said to be trying to redefine computing power, claiming to "break the limits of computing power", with a project budget of about $6 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 43.86 billion yuan). However, due to the rapid development of technology, the cost in the next few years is expected to be reduced in the next few years. It is estimated that by 2030, the cost of these systems may fall to $500-700 million (currently about 3.655-5.117 billion yuan).

Currently, the most powerful supercomputer in Russia is Yandex's Chervonenkis, ranking 27th in the computing world. There are seven computers in Russia among the top 500s in the world, three of which belong to Yandex.

For comparison, the United States has 150, China has 134, Germany has 36 and Japan has 33.

According to CTOnews.com 's previous report, Russian technology giant Yandex said in an interview early last month that the YandexGPT developed by the company has a greater future than the ChatGPT developed by US competitor OpenAI.

Dmitry Masyuk, head of Yandex's search and advertising technology business, said YandexGPT had been able to "steadily outperform" ChatGPT 3.5 in generating Russian content, even providing a better answer than ChatGPT 4.0 in many cases, adding that it would be "only a matter of time" for YandexGPT to compete with its US rivals.
