CTOnews.com, October 9 (Xinhua)-- A new study led by the REVEAL Research Centre at the University of Bath in the UK has found that watching a teaching video that uses deep forgery (deepfake) to replace one's face into someone else's can make learning faster, easier and more interesting than watching other people's teaching videos.

CTOnews.com notes that this finding has been validated in two different experiments, one in fitness training and the other in public speaking. In the fitness experiment, participants watched a video of their face being affixed to a higher-level athlete and then imitated the movements in the video. The results showed that after watching the video of "oneself", the participants increased both the number of movements and the time, and enjoyed the training more. In the public speaking experiment, participants watched a video of their face being affixed to a good speaker and then gave a speech. The results showed that after watching the video of "yourself", the participants' confidence and speech ability improved, and they felt more encouraged and proud.

The researchers believe that their research shows two positive use cases of deep forgery, and they hope their findings will inspire more research on how deep forgery can be applied to the benefit of the world. They named their technology FakeForward (using deep forgery to teach new skills), and they said: "it can be seen from this study that deep forgery has great potential for people. By learning instructional videos of themselves as mentors, people can immediately get better on a task-it's like magic."
