The change was confirmed on Twitter by iFixit's Shahram Mokhtari, who pointed out the importance of the change, writing: "Apple did not put last year's Pro logic board directly into this year's standard model, they also upgraded the standard model. It also shows that Apple's standard model does not always accept last year's old models, and the new model will also be updated with components on the logic board."

This means that iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max all use Qualcomm X70 modems, and CTOnews.com notes that this is a continuation of Apple's practice last year, when Qualcomm X65 modems were used across the iPhone 14 line.

Benchmark tests on the SpeedSmart website show that Qualcomm's X70 modem has brought a huge improvement to the 5G performance of the iPhone 15. According to these data, the iPhone 15 has a 24% increase in 5G speed compared to the iPhone 14 series. In the United States, users who use Verizon networks have the largest increase after upgrading to iPhone 15, followed by T-Mobile and AT&T.

In addition, iPhone 15's X70 modem can reduce power consumption, improve 5G carrier aggregation capability, and improve performance when the iPhone is far away from the base station.

It is worth noting that Apple is also developing its own 5G modem, but it is expected to take several years to complete. Last month Qualcomm announced that Apple would continue to use Qualcomm 5G modems until at least 2026.
