CTOnews.com inquiry public information learned that the Lianjiang nuclear power project is the first coastal nuclear power project developed and built by the State Power Investment in Guangdong Province, located in Tian Luoling, Cheban Town, Lianjiang City, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, planning and construction of six CAP series third-generation nuclear power units, with a total installed capacity of 8.62 million kilowatts and a total investment of about 130 billion yuan.

The first phase of Lianjiang Nuclear Power Project will build two advanced million kilowatt nuclear power units with a rated capacity of 1.25 million kilowatts, using advanced CAP1000 third-generation passive pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology, with a design operating life of 60 years, meeting the highest international safety standards, and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2028.

According to officials, after the completion of the six units, the annual power generation will be about 70.2 billion kilowatt hours, which can reduce the consumption of standard coal by about 20.076 million tons, carbon dioxide by about 52.601 million tons, sulfur dioxide by about 171000 tons, and nitrogen oxides by about 149000 tons. The emission reduction effect is equivalent to planting broad-leaved forests of about 148000 hectares.

At present, the third generation passive nuclear power technology has formed a batch construction scale, four AP1000 units are operating safely and stably, the construction of two "Guohe No.1" re-innovation units is progressing smoothly, and six domestic CAP1000 units have started construction one after another.
