CTOnews.com, Oct. 8, Toyota Motor Company recently unveiled a very special pure electric concept car. It has a strange shape and quite a long name-Baby Lunar Cruiser Concept (literal translation: moon cruiser baby concept car).

▲ Tuyuan Toyota, the same official, said the design of the concept car was inspired by the classic model, the original land cruiser FJ40, as well as the Lunar Cruiser lunar rover jointly developed by Toyota and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). As for the concept car itself, it is built to "conquer the rugged terrain inside and outside the earth", including the various roads of the earth, the moon and other planets.

The car is equipped with a glass roof and a panoramic oversized central control screen, which claims to allow users not to miss any scenery when exploring. From the point of view of the overall posture, the car is more similar to the all-terrain car, equipped with a science-fiction independent Chinese net. On the side of the body, the car is equipped with large-size non-inflatable tires and a honeycomb mesh elastic structure inside, which avoids the risk of tire burst and has a very high ground clearance.

In terms of interior decoration, the car abandons the traditional instrument and steering wheel, the center console consists of a whole screen that supports AR function, the vehicle is controlled by two joysticks, and multiple cameras and sensors can display real-time images of the wheels, chassis and their surroundings on the interior screen.

In terms of power, the car uses a wheel-side motor layout, all four wheels are driven by independent motors, and is expected to take advantage of Toyota's latest fuel cell technology.

Toyota is not the only traditional car company involved in making electric lunar rovers. CTOnews.com previously reported that Nissan and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) also have a partnership and will show off a prototype lunar rover jointly developed by the two sides in 2021.

▲ Tuyuan Nissan said that Nissan used electric vehicle technology for the civilian market in the development of the lunar rover, such as the motor control technology of the Nissan leaf (Nissan LEAF) and the Nissan e-4ORCE all-wheel control technology of the new pure electric crossover model Nissan Ariya.
