Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media users 1520111, OC_Formula for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, Oct. 8, according to Intel, there will be "Windows updates" in 2024 to stimulate demand for PC upgrades, hoping to boost its income.

At last month's Citigroup analyst meeting, Intel CFO David Zinsner talked about next year's Windows update, suggesting that consumers may upgrade their computers because of the new version of Windows, and the "Windows update" he is talking about is likely to be Windows 12.

"We actually think 2024 will be a pretty good year for clients, especially because of the stimulus of Windows updates (refresh)," Zinsner said at a Citi analyst meeting on Sept. 6. "We still think that the existing computer base is quite old and needs to be updated. We think next year may be the beginning of this process because of Windows as a catalyst."

It is worth mentioning that Intel's internal documents about Windows 12 were leaked a few months ago. Intel is reportedly preparing its Meteor Lake desktop platform for the next generation of Windows, which may be called Windows 12.

Intel currently only publishes the Meteor Lake mobile chip, which will be released in December and has a dedicated AI coprocessor built in. Meteor Lake is Intel's first CPU with a different small chip for each component, and the first CPU with Intel 4 process nodes. Given that Microsoft is promoting Windows's built-in AI functionality, the addition of AI coprocessors will be important.

Microsoft has not announced any plans for Windows 12, but there are signs that the company is looking to integrate AI-driven features with future versions of Windows. "when we start developing a future version of Windows, we will consider other places where AI should play a natural role in the experience," Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft's head of consumer marketing, told The Verge earlier this year.

CTOnews.com noted that Microsoft recently added its AI-driven Copilot directly to Windows 11, focused on AI in its recent Surface campaign, and added a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) chip to its Surface Laptop Studio 2. Microsoft seems to be quietly laying the groundwork for Windows to integrate AI on a larger scale, and it seems natural to combine Windows 12 with hardware updates focused on artificial intelligence coprocessors.
