South Korean shipping companies took far fewer orders than China in September, ranking second with a global share of 6.5 per cent.

Tuyuan Pixabay Yonhap news agency reported on the same day that the latest data from Clarkson, a British shipbuilding and shipping industry analyst, said that in September this year, the number of new ship orders in the world was 1.86 million modified gross tons, a decrease of 59% from the same period last year. Among them, the number of new ships accepted by Chinese shipping enterprises was 153 million modified gross tons, a total of 62 ships, accounting for about 82.3%, ranking first in the world.

CTOnews.com noted that the data also showed that global orders for new ships totaled 3014 million modified gross tons or 1196 ships in the first nine months of this year, down 23 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, China and South Korea accounted for 60% and 25% of new ship orders respectively.
