This week, the European Union officially launched an investigation into subsidies for Chinese-made electric vehicles. The investigation, which will last a year, could eventually lead to EU measures against Chinese-made electric vehicles, such as higher import tariffs.

Li Ke said BYD would share all the information they requested with EU authorities to eliminate any confusion about its car production. "The growth of electric vehicles is a revolution. In addition to Chile, BYD's delegation, which also includes BYD founder and chairman Wang Chuanfu, will visit other Latin American countries for the first time since the outbreak. BYD already sells its Seal electric sedan in Chile.

Li Ke said Wang Chuanfu's visit to Latin America showed BYD's concern for the region. Earlier Friday, Wang met with Chilean President Juan Boric to discuss accelerating electrification and developing the local lithium industry, she said.

By September, BYD had sold more than two million clean energy vehicles worldwide, half of them pure electric and the rest hybrid. In the third quarter of this year, BYD almost overtook Tesla to become the world's largest seller of pure electric vehicles.

The BYD delegation had previously visited Mexico, where it was studying the construction of a passenger car factory. Their next stop is Brazil, where the company is building its first electric vehicle factory outside Asia as part of BYD's plan to establish regional manufacturing and innovation centers.
