CTOnews.com, October 7 (Xinhua) according to recent reports from State Grid and CCTV News, data from the smart vehicle networking platform of State Grid showed that the charging capacity of new energy vehicles in the national high-speed service area reached 29.2 million kilowatt-hours six days before the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday this year, a record high.

Data from the same platform show that four days before the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the charging capacity of new energy vehicles in the national highway service area reached 19.04 million kilowatt-hours, also a record high.

According to reports, since the beginning of this year, China has stepped up the construction of charging piles. At present, about 90% of the highway service areas in the country have been covered with charging piles, and the charging infrastructure in the domestic highway service areas has increased by nearly 25% compared with last year.

During the just-concluded holiday, mobile charging piles are also being laid out in many places. According to reports, portable mobile charging stations have been officially opened in the Jingjiangnan Service area of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in Jiangsu Province and the Xinyi Service area in Jiaxing (pronounced cheng, the second sound). The first "tidal charging station" in Zhejiang is also used in the Xinyi service area in Jiaxing, where eight mobile charging piles can move freely within a range of 30 meters; among the two integrated mobile charging stations used in the Jingjiangnan service area, there are four 120 kilowatt DC fast charging piles, which can be used for up to eight electric vehicles.

CTOnews.com previously quoted Chutian Metropolis Daily and other media as saying that Wuhan Power supply Company of State Grid has put in place intelligent mobile charging robots that can complete "electric car search" in local railway stations, new energy vehicle charging stations, service areas, and other places, which can provide 60kW DC fast charging for cars.

According to a report released last month by TrendForce, the number of public charging piles in the world is expected to exceed 16 million in 2026, about three times that of this year. At the same time, by 2026, the vehicle-to-pile ratio in China will reach 4:1.

China is an important driver of the global number of public charging piles, and the vehicle-to-pile ratio is expected to rise to 2:1 by 2030, the report said.
