Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thank CTOnews.com netizens for the past, Mr. Aviation's clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Oct. 6 (Xinhua)-- South Korea's telecom regulator said today that Google and Apple will be fined up to 68 billion won (CTOnews.com Note: about 369 million yuan) for violating local laws in the field of intra-app payments, according to Reuters and Yonhap news agency.
Tuyuan Pixabay Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said in a statement that the two companies forced app developers to use specific payment methods, resulting in unfair delays in application review. KCC said it was notifying the two companies to take corrective actions and would review the fines.
According to Reuters, Google responded that "what KCC issued today is a 'pre-notice' and we will carefully review and submit a response. If we receive the final written decision, we will evaluate the next action plan."
"We do not agree with the conclusion made by KCC in the report that our changes to App Store are in line with the relevant provisions of South Korea's Telecom Business Law, and we will, as always, keep in touch with KCC and share our views at any time," Apple said in a response to Reuters.
CTOnews.com previously reported that South Korea's telecom regulator said in August last year that it planned to investigate app store operators such as Apple, Google and One Store on suspicion of violating in-app payment laws.
Last year, South Korea passed an amendment called the Telecommunications Business Law, which banned major app store operators such as Google and Apple from forcing software developers to use their payment systems, which came into effect in March.
The Korean Communications Commission said in a statement that it had conducted a check since May 17 to determine whether Google, Apple and One Store had violated the revised Telecommunications Business Law, and then determined that all three app store operators may have violated the rules.
