Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com reported on October 6 that Volvo announced its September global sales in its official news center on the 5th. The CTOnews.com is summarized as follows:

Global sales in the month were 61666, up 25% from the same period last year, and sales increased in Europe, the United States and China.

The number of models with plug-in systems increased 37% year-on-year in the month, accounting for 34% of global car sales.

Pure electric models accounted for 15 per cent of the brand, up from 12 per cent in the same period last year.

Sales in the European market for the month were 25489, up 32% from a year earlier, of which 13599 were new energy vehicles.

Sales in the US market for the month were 10946, up 65 per cent from a year earlier.

China sold 15460 vehicles, up 4 per cent from a year earlier, with sales of new energy vehicles up 20 per cent year-on-year.

The brand sold the highest number of models in the world that month, XC60, with 20243 vehicles, followed by XC40, with 18306, and XC90 ranked third, with 8530.

A total of 509158 cars were sold worldwide in the first nine months of 2023, an increase of 19 per cent year-on-year.

CTOnews.com had previously reported that Volvo President and CEO Jim Rowan (Luo Wenren) posted at the end of last month that he had once again "had a pleasant visit" in China. He also sees strong consumer demand for electric cars and infrastructure that can quickly switch to electrification, he wrote in a Linkedin post.

Luo did not disclose the purpose of his visit to China, but according to China Daily, people familiar with the matter said he was here to attend a meeting of Volvo's board of directors. The move is seen as the carmaker's growing emphasis on the Chinese market and a sign of Volvo's efforts to speed up electrification.
