CTOnews.com, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) Samsung's Knox platform, which protects the company's products, is a hardware-based security solution that will soon be extended to Samsung's midrange phones.

Samsung confirmed today at the 2023 Samsung developer Conference in San Francisco that Knox Vault will be extended to Galaxy A devices running One UI 6.0 or later in 2024. This will be the first time that Knox Vault will be available on mid-range phones.

CTOnews.com Note: Samsung launched the Knox Vault for the first time in the Galaxy S21 series. It is a hardware-based solution that runs completely independent of the main chipset running the Android operating system. Knox Vault is designed as an isolated and tamper-proof subsystem with its own processor, memory, and non-volatile secure storage.

Knox Vault can store highly sensitive data, such as hardware-supported Android KeyStore keys, Samsung certification keys, biometric data (such as fingerprints used to unlock devices, etc.). Because it runs completely independently, code running on Knox Vault processors can be highly isolated from the use of shared resources. This means that Knox Vault can continue to protect users' sensitive data even if the main chipset is completely compromised.

Samsung currently offers Knox Vault only on its flagship phones, including the Galaxy S, Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold series. The Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets also have this feature.

The company confirmed on SDC 2023 today that Knox Vault will now expand to more devices, including Galaxy A-Series devices pre-installed with One UI 6.0next year. Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV will also get Knox Vault later this year.
