iPad mini 7 and 11th generation iPad analyst Mingxi Kuo reported in December 2022 that Apple has been working on a new iPad mini that is expected to be released in late 2023 or early 2024.

This information was later confirmed by ShrimpApplePro. CTOnews.com learned from 9to5Mac that Apple still has plans to launch the iPad mini 7 in the near future, but the exact timing is unclear.

The iPad mini 7 follows the current generation design in appearance, but will be equipped with faster chips. Apple launched the iPad mini 6 in September 2021, still carrying the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13.

Apple is also testing the entry-level iPad, code-named J126b, internally, and introduced its 10th generation iPad last year, which is similar in design to the iPad Air and USB-C port, but has an A14 Bionic chip built in. New entry-level iPads may also only get specs upgrades compared to current models.

New iPad Air and M3 iPad Pro Sources say Apple is testing two iPad Air models, code-named J507 and J508, which may use new chips and come with different screen size.

Bloomberg reported in June that Apple has developed two iPads for the iPad Air called the J537 and J538. At present, only the iPad Pro is available in 11-inch and 12.9-inch size versions of Apple's iPad product line, while it is reported that the iPad Air will also come in two different size versions.

In addition, the news said that a new generation of iPad Pro equipped with M3 chip will also be available soon, with 11-inch models J717 and J718, and 12.9-inch models J720 and J721.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported last month that Apple has been working on a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad to make it look more like a laptop. The keyboard will be made of aluminum alloy instead of plastic, and will feature a larger trackpad.

9to5Mac's sources confirmed the report. The new Magic Keyboard for iPad, labeled R219 (currently code-named R1x) and equipped with new sensors including accelerometers, is expected to debut alongside the new iPad Pro.
