CTOnews.com, Oct. 5, LG New Energy (LG Energy Solution) today issued a press release announcing the signing of an electric vehicle battery supply agreement with Toyota Motor North America for Toyota pure electric vehicles assembled in the United States.

LG New Energy will deliver 20 GWh of automotive battery modules to Toyota from 2025. The module consists of high-nickel NCMA (nickel, cobalt, manganese, aluminum) soft-package batteries and will be produced at LG New Energy's Michigan plant.

The battery supply agreement will help Toyota expand its pure electric product line, and Toyota plans to assemble and produce new pure electric models in Kentucky in 2025 to further promote electrification. Toyota plans to launch 30 pure electric models under Toyota and Lexus brands in 2030, and hopes to produce more than 3.5 million vehicles a year.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Toyota plans to increase its annual production capacity of electric vehicles, with an estimated annual production capacity of 190000 electric vehicles next year, 600000 in 2025 and 1.5 million in 2026.

Toyota also plans to develop and design a new traction battery by 2026 and plans to produce 3.5 million vehicles a year by 2030.
