CTOnews.com October 4 news, Microsoft today officially announced the next generation of OneDrive (OneDrive 3.0), bringing a new design and a number of functional improvements, and ushered in Copilot AI features.

Microsoft said: "the new OneDrive Home experience reduces the time it takes to find files, so you can spend more time actually doing it. Our new 'For you' area uses AI-driven file recommendations to display personalized files for you, bringing the most relevant and time-sensitive content to the top of the OneDrive. We have also added rich, context-based organizations, such as showing you recent, shared, favorite views, and files in meetings. "

Microsoft also provides a new sharing page in OneDrive where users can see which files are shared by whom and how. There is also a new people view page where users can view files shared with individuals. Other new OneDrive file pages include viewing files shared in different meetings and filtering files by specific types.

You can also customize the appearance of OneDrive files by changing the colors of different files in the interface and by marking some of the files to be returned as favorites. All of these features are now available to Microsoft 365 work and school customers.

Microsoft will also add a number of other OneDrive features in the coming months, including the ability to open OneDrive cloud files in default applications.

Microsoft is also developing a new media view where users can view all stored photos and videos on one page, and a "Add new" feature that allows users to simply create new documents in OneDrive.

Microsoft also plans to add a Copilot-generated AI assistant to Microsoft customers in OneDrive in December to make it easier for users to find the files they need and summarize the content without even opening it.
