According to news from CTOnews.com on October 4, Activision has planned the "call of Duty" game for the next few years. Rob Kostich, president of Activision, discussed the first 20 years of call of Duty and the future direction of the series in an interview with GamesBeat.

Call of Duty has been released once a year for the past two decades, using many different background settings. "call of Duty" initially focused on the second World War, but with the launch of the "Modern Warfare" series, "call of Duty" really became the "top class". In addition, the "Black Action" series takes the Cold War era and the near future as the background, while "Infinite War" takes the distant future as the background.

Kostich says Activision has learned from every game in the series, and games usually reach a "sweet spot" no matter what the background.

"We have been in the planning stage, the long-term planning stage," he said. "now, we have plans for the call of Duty series until 2027."

"I think the most important thing is balance, and we think we actually need to provide a good differentiation experience so that people can participate and feel like they're having new fun," Kostich said. "for us, weapons are a very important part of the call of Duty game. You also have to think about what narrative allows you to do no matter what time period you are in."

Kostich also said: "the challenge is that when you enter World War II or earlier, when you try to maintain a realistic tone, flexibility is reduced, which is important for call of Duty. By the way, our fans have a very strong definition of what call of Duty is and what it is not."

According to Kostich, all of Activision's core studios have contributed to call of Duty, and about 3000 developers are currently developing the series.

Activision will reveal the latest details of the new "call of Duty" and show the multiplayer mode of "Modern Warfare 3" on its live broadcast at 9: 00 a.m. on October 5 (CTOnews.com).

Call of Duty: modern Warfare 3, scheduled for release on November 10, 2023, is a direct sequel to last year's Modern Warfare 2. The game is developed by Sledgehammer and works with Infinity Ward, while Treyarch is in charge of its zombie mode.

It is reported that the 2024 "call of Duty" game will be a new "Black Action" game set in the Gulf War, led by Treyarch.
