According to CTOnews.com news on October 3, the Singapore government said that from next year, Changi Airport will use facial recognition as a "digital passport" to achieve customs verification, which can replace the traditional paper passport.

It is reported that Josephine Teo, Minister of Communications and second Minister of the Interior of Singapore, pointed out in a speech last month that Singapore will become one of the few countries in the world to implement passport-free automatic customs clearance. Singapore's current entry and exit passengers have returned to pre-2020 levels, and automated passport inspection will provide "faster and more convenient passenger clearance services".

According to the Singapore government website, foreign passengers arriving at Changi Airport (including Chinese passengers in the table) can use the "automated customs clearance system" to complete their first registration.

▲ source Singapore government website CTOnews.com learned that when passengers enter the country, they can put in a paper passport under the instructions of a self-service customs machine (Automated Clearance Initiative), then press their fingerprints, and after taking pictures, they will be able to use a "digital passport" instead of cumbersome paper documents.

When passengers leave the country, such as the video released by the relevant departments of ▲, they only need to go through the relevant biometric identification to avoid the process of showing their paper passports when they send their luggage, check out the country and board the plane. The Singapore government also claimed that the relevant passenger data would be deleted "for a short period of time" after passengers left the country.
