Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Oct. 3, in the past several Linux kernel versions, Loongson engineers have been working on implementing more kernel functions for the LoongArch architecture. So far, although LoongArch CPU is still poor in performance, its architectural support has become more and more mature.
According to the latest submission by the Loongson team, the Godson Git branch of the Linux kernel has queued all its initial KVM support (CTOnews.com note: Kernel-based Virtual Machine) code into loongarch-next to welcome the Linux 6.7 merge window in about a month, which is about to welcome kernel-based virtual machine support.
This set of patches provides all the basic KVM support code for Godson CPU. This KVM support relies on the virtualization extension of LoongArch and is the first virtualization method supported by LoongArch.
Although KVM virtualization support may not be very practical at present, considering the current LoongArch CPU performance level, with the improvement of performance and the future expansion of Godson in the cloud / virtualized server field, KVM virtualization support will become very important, so it is necessary to prepare ahead of time.
