CTOnews.com October 2 news, according to China Taiwan "Economic Daily", ASUS today announced the formal signing of an agreement with Intel, ASUS will produce, sell and support Intel's 10th to 13th generation NUC system product line, and design and develop future NUC systems.

Xu Youjia, senior vice president of ASUS Global and co-general manager of Open Platform Business Group and Smart Internet of Things Business Group, pointed out that ASUS 'newly established NUC business unit team currently has about 150 to 160 people and will continue to expand in the future to improve design capability, product diversity, product quality and sustainability.

Xu Youjia mentioned that Intel NUC's main customer types include e-sports, commercial and industrial embedded. For example, the Japanese and Nordic markets prefer small and well-performing devices. The existing Intel NUC has provided a series of e-sports products.

He also stressed that Intel NUC is not an exclusive license to ASUS, and whether to license other manufacturers in the future will be decided by Intel.

It is said that ASUS NUC has been quoting customers since the beginning of September, and is currently receiving orders for delivery. In the process of conversion, some customers 'products are still being verified. In order to make the verification system sustainable, ASUS is still selling some Intel NUC products and starting to produce and sell ASUS NUC products. It is expected that the transition period will last at least one quarter and be completed by the beginning of next year at the latest.

Intel's NUCs are typically bare metal systems, meaning they don't have the necessary components such as memory, storage, and operating system. Users can customize the NUC to suit their specific needs by adding their favorite components. NUC kits typically include a motherboard, CPU, and integrated graphics. CTOnews.com notes that Intel's recent releases include the NUC 13 Rugged"Bravo Canyon," the commercial NUC 13 PRO"Arena Canyon," and the NUC 13 Extreme"Raptor Canyon," which is more like a full gaming PC than a miniaturized design.

Some analysts believe that Intel's abandonment of the NUC business may be related to the competitive pressure it faces in the processor market. As AMD, Apple and others roll out more advanced and efficient chips, Intel may need to refocus its strategy to maintain its leadership in computing.
