Hu Hao, chief designer of Chang'e 5, attended the award ceremony as representatives of the team, and announced that Chang'e 5 lunar research samples will soon be open to international applications. Scientists from all countries are welcome to work together and share the results.

Chang'e-5 was the first unmanned lunar sampling and return mission in China, and it was an aerospace system engineering with the highest complexity and the largest technical span in China at that time. It broke through the key technologies such as lunar surface sampling, lunar surface take-off and rise, lunar orbit rendezvous and docking and sample transfer, and jump re-entry return, and brought back 1731 grams of lunar samples after an interlinked flight process. It has become the largest unmanned lunar sampling mission in the world. The Chang'e-5 mission is a vivid practice for China to achieve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, lays the foundation for follow-up unmanned lunar scientific research stations and manned lunar landings, and is another important milestone in China's space development.
