CTOnews.com news on October 2, many people have doubts about Tesla Semi electric truck, that it can not compete with diesel trucks. Bill Gates is one of these skeptics. Gates believes that all-electric semitrailers like Tesla Semi may never land because the batteries are too heavy.

In the actual test of a new independent study, a Tesla Semi electric truck drove more than 1000 miles (CTOnews.com Note: about 1609.34 km) in a day.

The North American Freight Transport efficiency Commission (NACFE) has been conducting a study as part of its new Run on Less plan to test several electric trucks in real-world conditions and release data in real time.

Now that the 18-day test is over, on the penultimate day, Tesla Semi successfully drove 1076 miles (about 1731.65 kilometers) in one day, setting a new record:

Although NACFE did not specify the payload for the day, it said the average load on these trucks was more than 70000 pounds. Tesla Semi needs to stop and recharge three times a day, and according to the test drawings, the car can be transported normally when it is full of cola drinks.

Tesla has delivered only a small number of Semi electric trucks, most of which may have been given to PepsiCo, the first company to order Tesla's Semi five and a half years ago, and Tesla began delivering the Semi in early December 2022. PepsiCo may have received 36 of the 100 Semi ordered by now, according to a recall issued by NHTSA in June: 15 at its subsidiary Frito-Lay 's plant in Modesto, Calif., and 21 at its main location, Sacramento.

PepsiCo previously confirmed in a video that four Tesla chargers were installed at the Sacramento site, each with a charging power of 750kW and capable of charging 80 per cent of the battery in less than 45 minutes. It is also mentioned in the video that Semi can be charged from 5-10% to 95% in 20 to 30 minutes.
