CTOnews.com, September 30, the official website of Japan Display Inc (JDI) announced the cancellation of the Memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with HKC on April 10 and focused on cooperation in the high-end car display business.

It is understood that JDI and Huike signed a memorandum on April 10, 2023 to establish a strategic alliance to cooperate on JDI's next-generation eLEAP technology. On June 30, JDI and HKC agreed to extend the MOU until the end of September.

Reasons for lifting MOU:

JDI and HKC have been discussing cooperation as global strategic partners in JDI's next-generation eLEAP technology, production line, global innovation and industrialization center, and high-end automotive display business.

However, in view of the latest development of JDI growth opportunities, and with the understanding and agreement of HKC, JDI decided to conclude negotiations on a broader memorandum of cooperation and focus on cooperation in the high-end vehicle display business.

Profitability impact:

This change has had little impact on the earnings of JDI 2024 Compact in fiscal year 3.

JDI and HKC are continuing to discuss the cooperative relationship, and if there is anything that needs further disclosure, JDI will announce it in time.

CTOnews.com noted that JDI still plans to build a plant in China, where customers bear part of the construction cost. JDI said it had decided to set up two factories in China's Anhui province to produce a new thin-film electroluminescent EL display called eLEAP.
