CTOnews.com Sept. 30, Onewheel electric skateboard manufacturer Future Motion announced a recall of 300000 Onewheel self-balancing electric skateboards from the United States. If the limit of the skateboard is exceeded, the skateboard may stop balancing, creating a collision risk, resulting in serious injury or death.

CTOnews.com noted that Future Motion had received dozens of reports of accidents involving electric skateboards, including four deaths between 2019 and 2021, as well as brain trauma, concussion, paralysis, upper body fractures, lower body fractures and ligament injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using recalled Onewheel electric skateboards, and consumers with Onewheel GT, Onewheel Pint X, Onewheel Pint or Onewheel+ XR electric skateboards should download or update Onewheel App and update firmware to support Haptic Buzz alarm.

It is understood that Haptic Buzz is a tactile and sound warning system that provides users with buzzing and sound when approaching the skateboard limit or in a low power or error state. Firmware updates for Onewheel GT will be available within a week, and firmware updates for Pint X, Pint and XR will be available within six weeks.

The recall covers all models of Future Motion Onewheel self-balancing electric skateboards, including Onewheel (original manufacturer), Onewheel+, Onewheel+ XR, Onewheel Pint, Onewheel Pint X and Onewheel GT. The model name is located on the side of the skateboard and the Onewheel logo is printed on the guide rail of the skateboard.
