CTOnews.com, September 29 (Xinhua)-- BYD Mexico has announced a partnership with FEMSA and Coca-Cola FEMSA to build electric logistics trucks for the beverage industry to reduce carbon dioxide and polluting gas emissions.

According to ▲ official BYD, the electric freight truck was developed according to the specific needs of Coca-Cola FEMSA's operation in Mexico, and its chassis can hold 14 low-bed pallets, which meets the safety standards of bottlers and Coca-Cola. The vehicle is powered by battery, the charging time is 1.5 to 2 hours and is adapted to 8, 10 or 12 pallets at the same time.

The electric trucks under this partnership will be piloted for a period of six to eight months from October 2023 and will be piloted on different routes in the Valley of Mexico according to the test requirements designed by the Coca-Cola FEMSA Transport Committee.

BYD Mexico and Coca-Cola FEMSA have been working together since March 2021 to develop trucks with 14 low-bed pallets to provide electric logistics solutions for the beverage industry. So far, Coca-Cola FEMSA has 26 BYD electric vehicles in Mexico, including forklifts, trucks, light trucks and sales vehicles.

CTOnews.com learned from public sources that FEMSA, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Monterey, Mexico, is a well-known Latin American beverage company with a 47.9% stake in CocaCola FEMSA, a world-renowned Coca-Cola bottling company (The Coca-Cola Company holds 28.1%), mainly helping Coca-Cola produce various beverages.
