CTOnews.com, Sept. 28, according to AnandTech, Micron said on its earnings call this week that it is producing a 128-GB DDR5 memory module using a 32-Gb DDR5 memory chip released by Micron earlier this year.

According to reports, Meguiar's 32 Gb DDR5 chip uses the company's 1 β (1-beta) manufacturing process, the official has not disclosed its speed and power consumption information. The 32 Gb DDR5 chip paves the way for a single 128GB server memory strip and makes it possible to produce memory modules with a capacity of 1 TB.

As previously reported by IT House, Samsung announced on September 1 this year that it will adopt 12-nanometer (nm) process technology to develop its largest capacity 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, which can develop a solution to implement 1TB memory modules. In terms of power consumption, the 128GB memory module packaged with Samsung's 32Gb DDR5 chip reduces power consumption by about 10% compared with the previous generation. Samsung's new 12-nanometer 32Gb DDR5 DRAM plans to start mass production by the end of this year.
