CTOnews.com Sept. 28, Microsoft released the September Windows Development Environment (Windows Development Environment,WDE) update. Version 2309 is based on the Win11 Build 22621.2283 update and incorporates the cumulative update released on Tuesday in the September patch.

CTOnews.com note: as Win11 Moment 4 is currently in an optional non-secure update status, it is expected to be available in November 2023.

WDE is a free virtual machine environment that does not require activation and can be used for 90 days. It mainly provides developers with the tools needed to create Windows applications. These tools include Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition with workloads enabled for USP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows App SDK for C #, pre-installed Windows subsystems Linux 2 (fixed to the taskbar) and Ubuntu, installed Windows terminals, and enabled Windows developer mode.

The virtual machine allows users to use Windows 11 Enterprise Edition for 90 days free of charge, and also includes the software environment needed to develop applications for Windows 11:

Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition, which supports UWP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows application SDK for C# workloads.

Linux subsystem WSL 2, which installs Ubuntu by default.

Windows Terminal terminal.

Enable developer mode.

Users can download and run the Windows development environment using VMware (Workstation Player and Workstation Pro), VirtualBox, Parallels, or Hyper-V, and the virtual machine can be used for 90 days for free, after which an activation reminder will appear, but the user cannot really activate it because the virtual machine is only an evaluation version of the system.

Version 2309 of the Windows development environment is valid until December 19, 2023. CTOnews.com partners can go to the official Microsoft website and choose the format they want. Note that downloading WDE requires at least the free space of 70GB and the memory of 8GB.
