The company says hydrogen fuel cell technology could be the right solution for flexible and demanding long-distance road transport decarbonization.

According to the ▲ Touyuan Daimler website, the test, powered by a fuel cell system and equipped with a liquid hydrogen fuel tank system, began on the afternoon of Monday, September 25 at the Mercedes-Benz truck customer Center in Voles-am Rhine, Germany, and ended on the morning of Tuesday, September 26 in the German capital Berlin. The truck was fully loaded under actual conditions, with a total weight of 40 tons and did not emit any carbon dioxide during the whole driving process.

It is reported that before the test, the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 truck loaded the minus 253 degrees Celsius liquid hydrogen into two 40-kilogram storage tanks installed on both sides of the truck chassis at the gas station of the Daimler truck's development and testing center. The company says Daimler trucks prefer liquid hydrogen when developing hydrogen-based drives. In this state of aggregation, the energy carrier has a higher energy density than gaseous hydrogen.
