CTOnews.com, September 27 (Xinhua)-- according to data released by research firm IDC, in the second quarter of 2023, global PC display market shipments fell 17.1% year-on-year to 29.9 million units, slightly exceeding market expectations, but the display market has not yet returned to 2019 levels.

Display sales slowed after a surge between 2020 and 2022, the report said. Compared with the previous year, there was a contraction in all regions, with the most significant decline in North America and Western Europe. IDC lowered its forecast for shipments of PC monitors for the whole of 2023, which is expected to decline by 10.3%.

▲ graphics source IDC, the following from the perspective of manufacturers, Dell, TPV, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Lenovo is 2023 Q2 display market accounted for the top five. However, CTOnews.com found that other Others brands also accounted for more than 30 per cent of the display market due to competition.

As consumer demand recovers and businesses shift to Windows 11 computers, IDC expects a recovery in 2024, spurring purchases of office monitors. However, the rebound will be gradual and sales are not expected to exceed 2019 levels by 2025. IDC predicts that the market will stabilize after 2025 due to a larger installation base and continued growth in game displays brought about by mixed mode.

IDC also said that the display market landscape has also undergone a lasting change, with a significant shift from a mainly business-driven market to one that is increasingly influenced by consumers. Commercial display sales accounted for 61% of Prida's sales in 2019. However, due to the rise of hybrid work models, declining office usage and the increasing popularity of games and larger displays, IDC now expects the commercial share to remain the same, falling to about 53 per cent for the foreseeable future.
