In July 2023, Purdue Technology, the global leader in business service robots, successfully conducted a joint test with Japan's Otis Elevator Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Otis). In this demonstration, Purdue's building distribution robot Lightning Box has successfully integrated seamlessly with elevators through ladder control technology in Japan.

"Lightning Box" is a building distribution robot developed by Purdue for digital management and service improvement of hotels and office buildings, which went on sale worldwide in 2021. Purdue has carried out several cloud integration tests between robots and elevators combined with Otis Japan's integrated scheduling technology, and adjusted to adapt to different environments by analyzing the differences in agreements between different elevators. Without manual assistance, Lightning Box realizes the automatic use of elevators to transport goods between floors. In addition, Lightning Box improves the overall experience of employees and customers in hotels and office buildings through flexible obstacle avoidance and intelligent delivery services.

Otis is a world leader in the manufacture, installation, maintenance and renovation of elevators and escalators, with more than 69000 employees worldwide to meet the diverse needs of customers and users in more than 200 countries. Otis Integrated scheduling Technology (OID) is an application programming interface (API) designed by Otis, which can be used with many autonomous robots. The API integrates elevators and robots seamlessly through cloud or local connections, providing a more flexible and scalable solution than traditional wired methods.

As an advanced building distribution robot, Lightning Box realizes seamless communication and operation instruction exchange through communication with elevators, gates and access control, so as to independently take the ladder to complete cross-floor distribution services. Safety is the top priority of the Lightning Box, and its cargo hold is equipped with ultraviolet germicidal lamps. The lamp has a sterilization rate of up to 99.9%, making users feel more at ease. In order to ensure a smooth and stable delivery experience, the Lightning Box is equipped with a newly upgraded 6-wheel gauge-level independent linkage suspension, which changes damping according to different road conditions and driving requirements, and the resonance frequency is controlled to the best state, which can cross 2cm obstacles and 3.5cm gaps, and the ride comfort can be greatly improved.
