On September 27, a spokesman for Volkswagen said on Tuesday local time that the company would temporarily cut production of two electric vehicles due to weak market demand.

A spokesman for Tuyuan Pexels said the company plans to suspend production of ID.3 and Cupra Born electric cars at its Zwickau and Dresden plants in Germany in the first two weeks of October.

Among them, Volkswagen's plant in Zwickau will reduce the production of electric vehicles during the autumn holiday in Saxony from October 2 to October 13. The plant in Dresden will suspend production of ID.3 electric cars from October 2 and resume production from October 16.

Volkswagen declined to comment on the number of employees affected. Earlier this month, the company said it would not extend fixed-term contracts for 269 employees at the Zwickau pure electric car plant.

Volkswagen is facing increasing competition from Tesla and Chinese electric carmakers, as well as dealing with demand in the European electric car market, which has been affected by high inflation and reduced subsidies.
