CTOnews.com, September 26 (Xinhua)-- Indian lunar probe Lunar ship 3 successfully landed on the moon on August 23, local time, and its lander and lunar rover went dormant on September 2.

Recently, however, India has not been able to receive its signal in the process of awakening the "lunar ship 3". Scientists believe that the hope of the probe's "awakening" is getting slimmer, thepaper.cn reported. According to scientists, there is about a 50% chance that Lunar ship 3 will survive the cold moonlight. And if Lunar ship 3 cannot be awakened, it will stay on the moon as India's "lunar ambassador".

The Indian Space Research Organization said earlier that the lunar rover carried by the lunar craft 3 had found sulfur and other substances on the surface near the South Pole of the moon.

CTOnews.com previously reported that the Indian lunar ship 3 probe was launched from the Sadish Dawan Space Center in India on July 14 and successfully made a soft landing near the South Pole of the moon at 18:04 local time (20:34 Beijing time) on August 23. This makes India the fourth country in the world to successfully land on the moon and the first country to land near the moon's south pole.

This is the third time that India has launched a mission to the moon. In 2008, India successfully launched its first lunar probe, Lunar Boat 1, but the Lunar Boat 1, which had been in operation for two years, went missing in August 2009. India launched the Lunar ship 2 probe in July 2019, and its lander went missing during a soft landing on the lunar surface in September of that year, and the lander was admitted to have crashed in November.
