CTOnews.com After months of testing, Microsoft finally launched its new Outlook for Windows app on September 22.

Although Microsoft doesn't explicitly mention it, existing users have found that the app already supports iCloud accounts as well as Gmail accounts, which is more useful than the Mail App currently pre-installed in Windows 10 and 11.

Users can now add iCloud, Yahoo, and IMAP accounts to Outlook, saving them time and effort by avoiding the hassle of switching websites or apps to access email from one service to another.

The app began testing in May 2022, and Microsoft said it was developing the new version to expand the audience platform beyond classic Win32 apps, web versions, and Win10 apps, making it cross-platform software for the same experience.

In addition, the new Outlook will also support offline functionality in the future, allowing users to mark, move, delete and compose messages without connecting to the Internet.

Among other things, the app supports storing emails, calendar events, and contacts on the device so users can view them offline. Microsoft also said that this is the first offline feature, suggesting that more such features will be added later.

As for when the first offline features will be available, Microsoft says it's tentatively scheduled for October this year, when you can check what new features Microsoft has introduced to Outlook by clicking the hint (light bulb icon) next to the settings icon.

Microsoft has also previously said that it is running on new devices with Win11 23H2. As well as some devices upgraded to 23H2, the new Outlook for Windows will be preinstalled by default.

CTOnews.com previously reported that X platform user PhantomOcean3 noticed that his Windows 11 Beta channel version 22631.2338 (KB5030305) automatically installed new Outlook after restarting.
