Step 4: Modify the *** line in/etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config to

displayManager.requestPort:0

*** If our Linux machine is configured with a firewall, to prevent the firewall from filtering data passing through port 177 (i.e. xdmcp service), we must add the following rule (execute the following statement under root user):

iptables -A INPUT -p udp -s 0/0 -d 0/0 --dport 177 -j ACCEPT
