CTOnews.com, September 25, according to The Verge, Getty Images, the world's largest business gallery, will work with Nvidia to launch a generative AI tool with a straightforward name: Generative AI by Getty Images (Getty Images's generative AI).

According to reports, the tool allows users to train in Getty Images's vast gallery, which also means that anyone who uses the tool and publishes pictures commercially will be protected by law. In addition, Getty Images developed the tool using the model "Edify" provided on the Nvidia generative AI model library Picasso.

Getty Images also said that any photos claimed by using the tool will not be included in its main site and iStock's content library. If the company uses the pictures claimed by AI to train the model, it will pay the creators, and the proceeds from each image file will be distributed pro rata.

In terms of pricing, Getty Images did not disclose much about the price, saying only that the tool would be priced separately from the standard Getty Images subscription. Users have permanent, global and unlimited rights to the images they generate, but Getty watermarks the images to emphasize that they are generated by AI.

CTOnews.com previously reported that in September last year, Getty Images announced a ban on uploading and selling illustrations generated by AI art tools such as DALL-E, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. This is the latest and largest user-generated content platform to introduce such a ban after similar decisions have been made by some websites.

Craig Peters, chief executive of Getty Images, said the ban was driven by concerns about the legality of AI's generated content and a desire to protect customers on the site.
