Thank CTOnews.com netizens soft media Xinyou 1933769 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, September 25 (Xinhua)-- with the increasing demand for high-end phones and mass production of Apple's iPhone in India, India's high-end smartphone market share has increased significantly.

Apple is expected to gain more share of the Indian smartphone market, with shipments of the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models the most critical.

Nabila Popal, head of research at market intelligence firm IDC, said: "the share of India's high-end smartphone market has risen sharply from 0.8 per cent in 2019 to 6.1 per cent in the first half of 2023, largely thanks to Apple's success."

Apple is the biggest winner in India's smartphone segment above $800 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 5840 yuan), with 67 per cent of the market share in the first half of the year, compared with 31 per cent for Samsung, according to IDC.

In addition, market research firm Counterpoint expects Apple to account for 7 per cent of total smartphone sales in India from July to December, up from 5 per cent in the first half of 2023.

Amid a decline in flagship equipment sales, the tech giant has seen India as the next growth driver in recent years and has been speeding up the production and operation of its industrial chain in India.

The waiting time for Apple's latest iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models in India has been extended to late October, in line with the trend in China and the United States, which means that high-end iPhone is no less popular in India than in these two major markets.

Counterpoint expects these models to account for 25 per cent of India's total iPhone 15 shipments in the fourth quarter, up 4 per cent from iPhone 14 Pro / Max shipments in the same period last year.
