CTOnews.com, September 24 (Xinhua) Toyota's luxury brand Lexus has announced that it will display a pure electric concept car at the Japanese auto show, which opens on October 25. The new car will have a modular body structure, and its production model will be officially launched in 2026. It will be the first model of the next generation of electric vehicles in Lexus.

According to the official trailer chart, the new car is equipped with brand new arrow headlights and electronic rearview mirrors, and the front face profile is similar to the LF-A, a supercar launched by Lexus a few years ago.

From the side, the new car has a very low ground clearance and a cross-border body, which will focus on aerodynamics and lightweight design, and officials say the interior will also use more environmentally friendly materials.

The car will be equipped with Toyota's newly developed lithium-ion battery, which boasts a range of 497miles (799.84 km) and can recharge from 0 to 80 per cent in 20 minutes.

Toyota has previously said the new lithium-ion battery will be supplied along with another "high-performance" solid-state battery with a range of 621 miles (999.4 km). However, the solid-state battery is scheduled to be officially launched in 2027.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Toyota said in July that it had made a major breakthrough in battery technology: it could halve the weight, size and cost of batteries. Keiji Kaida, president of Toyota's carbon neutralization research and development center, said the company has developed ways to improve battery durability and believes it can now produce solid-state batteries with a range of 1200 kilometers and a charging time of 10 minutes or less.
